I disagree. In the tournament Johnny proved he can play with anyone on his line. Gaudreau/Bennett/GOON (Smith or Carroll) was a great combination.
Take things back to old-time hockey principles; 2 mega skill guys & one thug riding shotgun to look after them. The logical combo I could see happening in camp would be Gaudreau/Monahan/McGrattan. Big Ern has some decent wheels & isn't just your average goon. He could contribute out there, especially with the other 2 bouncing pucks in off his big skull.
