The key word is -almost- certain. To me calling hindsight means something more substantial than one NHL game, you don't say something in hindsight unless you've actually seen conclusive results at the NHL level.

There is a sizeable sample size now from St. Croix's career to suggest that he likely will never play in the NHL, and Gaudreau already has an NHL goal to his credit. It's not just Gaudreau's one game. It is combined with the fact that St. Croix has played in 0, and the fact that that number doesn't look at all likely to change.
There is little room for doubt here. Gaudreau is pretty clearly the better player.
