I got whippings when I was young so to me, it's just discipline.....albeit my parents never targeted my testicles. If I talked back or did something bad in school I got whippings when I got home. After a couple times I decided I'd rather not act up than get spanked.

I'm 32 and when I was in grade school our principal still gave swats up until I was in 6th grade.
Me too. He had this crazy studded belt in his drawer and every kid in my class was terrified of doing anything wrong.

Just because we went through it, I can't honestly say i'm a better adult for it. I never got "the strap" as we called it. Fear and terror shouldn't be the driving factor for children to not misbehave. Parent's instilling a strong sense of right and wrong, and kids learning real world consequences should do that.

That being said, I have a feeling when my kids are growing up, they might get one or two butt swats to emphasize a lesson.
