It's all in the execution. Apple makes stuff that performs wonderfully within the ecosystem they've built for it. They deserve a tremendous amount of credit for all they've accomplished with the iPhone and iOS.

My nexus 5 is one of the best phones I've ever had. I love the size, I love the screen, I like how simple Android makes modifying the aesthetics. I adore the way it handles email and my google calendar widget is indispensable for work. The value for dollar is through the roof, and I can't see myself going for a non Nexus device until apple at the very least adopts some sort of Swype typing system.

But there is no denying it it is a cheap feeling plastic device when placed side by side with an iPhone. Personally, I'm a little bummed they caved in and went for the bigger screens like everyone else. The commercial above was right; being able to use your entire phone with just your thumb is a breathtaking example of common sense. It also gave the people who wanted a more svelte device an option. But I suppose there's no stopping progress.

One other thing. The Apple commercials and marketing prior to Steve Jobs' death were fun, clever, cheeky and altogether wonderful most of the time. Every other add they run these days gives me ###### chills, and that's irritating. Get it together, Cook.
