NFC payments are strangely not as common as you'd think in the states given their popularity here in Canada.
I can tap to pay almost anywhere in Canada. When I went to Oregon for two weeks; absolutely nothing. Not even chip readers. All the old- fashioned swipe the magnetic strip through the card reader and sign the receipt.
It's interesting given that it's integrated into the phone, but... Where are people going to use it? Maybe merchants in Oregon and Washington aren't representative of the rest of the US, but I was pretty surprised by how little the technology was used there.
