Not necessarily, because we could finish better than the 3rd place team in the east, but still finish 5th in our division (thus missing the playoffs). Infact, I think it's safe to say at this point that the 5th place team in the west will have more wins at the end of the season than the 3rd place team in the east.
The formula for magic numbers is generally expressed as Games Remaining (18) + 1 - Stamps wins (9) - Bombers losses (5). So our magic number is 5 (combination of Stamps wins or losses by the Bombers). Although, sweeping the two remaining games against Bombers would be enough (2 Stamps wins, 2 Bombers losses, plus winning the tiebreaker which drops the MN another game.)
This comes into effect ONLY if we finish 4th in our conference, but our magic number for winning the crossover is:
18 + 1 - 9 - 7 = 3 (Combination of 3 Stampeders wins and 3 losses by whatever sad-sack eastern team finishes 3rd)
