The patron, a 44-year-old journeyman sheet metal worker named Jim Clement, has now stepped forward to explain his side of the altercation, which left him with a missing tooth, 15 stitches to close gashes to his forehead, a separated shoulder, bruises and blood filled eyes.

Clement says he has no qualms with the doormen acting to restrain him after he drunkenly decided to confront one with a punch — but he says the beating he received was far beyond reasonable.

“I was wrong to run back and strike him, but I wasn’t so wrong as to deserve what I got in return,” said Clement.

Instead of being belligerent, Clement says he and his friend Adam Robertson remained at their table chatting, racking up a $150 bar tab and even having shooters with the bar manager before the trouble started.

But things went downhill as they left the bar — the manager apparently being unfriendly over some perceived slight at the smoke doors — and Clement says one of the doormen called him a nasty name as he exited the establishment, a small skirmish ensued.

Shortly after, as Clement walked to another bar, the same doorman gave him a glare — and so Clement drunkenly charged.

“That wasn’t smart,” said Clement.

He denies threats were made, as claimed by Jamesons, or that he’d caused any problems inside the bar, where he’d been 10 or 15 times since moving to the area.

So far, police have not called to hear his side of the story, seemingly taking the bar’s side — but Clement is speaking with a lawyer, and he says he plans to take legal action to ensure the truth comes out.

“They’re saying I’m harassing and groping women? That’s slander right there, and I’m embarrassed and disgusted that they could even say that,” said Clement.
