I'm fine with new blood as long as it's legitimate new blood that could start the next era of greats. The Monfils clown show has been around for a long time (he's 28) and yesterday he simply did what he's always done. If he actually managed to win, you know that he'd just bomb out the next match, and then disappear back into obscurity for another year or two.

that's why the Raonic generation of players (not Raonic specifically, I'll always cheer for him) is so disappointing. They're entering their prime years and still not making a dent against the aging Big 4. by the time these legends are out of the game, Dimitrov, Nishikori etc. might find themselves running out of steam and getting beat by the generation after them.

after the Big 4 we might end up with 5+ years of chaos where a bunch of one hit wonders grab slams, kind of like the time between Sampras and Federer. I'm honestly welcome to latching onto the next generational talent because watching old man Roger flip between awesome and horrific is just hard on my nerves.
