'Canes re-sign forward Dylan Hunter
Raleigh, NC – Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Hanna Sniper announced today the signing of soon to be restricted free agent forward Dylan Hunter. As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.
DYLAN HUNTER, played in 86 games for the Hurricanes previous AHL club the Lowell Lock Monsters this past season recording 56 points (21 goals, 35 assists) and 122 penalty minutes. The 5’11” 198 lbs. forward has posted 369 points (106 goals, 263 assists) and 240 penalty minutes in 315 career games playing for the London Knights of the OHL. The native of Quebec was signed by Hurricanes GM Hanna after Dylan was overlooked by every NHL scout in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Dylan will continue his development and captain the Hurricanes newly based Albany River Rats for the upcoming 2006-07 season. “We couldn’t be happier about Dylan’s process under the Hurricanes and hope that he’ll continue to catch the eye of league scouts and one day have the skill level to reflect the huge numbers that he’s been able to put up in the past” commented Hanna to media after the release “He’s a real good kid, there was some interest from other teams leading up to the draft but we quickly made it clear that Dylan was part of our long term plans in Carolina, it’s nice to see that he was as commented to the Hurricanes as we have been to him these past 3 seasons.”
