She wanted a traditional men's hairstyle that has recently become very popular among women. This particular barbershop publicly advertised that they can do this style. The equivalent analogy would be if you wanted to buy women's cloths because you're transgendered or a transvestite or because you wanted to dress up like a woman for a Halloween party but then the store refused to serve you.
