Every defender of the 'check your phone at a red light' seems to use the argument 'its only 2 seconds', 'its only 10 seconds', etc. To me, there are two issues:
1) It is never "only 2 seconds" - people are very unaware of how long they actually stare at the phone when performing any type of activity (even just reading)
2) A lot can happen around you in 10 seconds (or "2 seconds") even if you are not moving.
But it doesn't really matter what anyone says - if you've made up your mind that your "2 seconds" is safe, no one is going to change your mind until a major incident occurs. I just hope it's not an incident with me.
