Yeah, it's rather sad and pathetic to see the Apple Fanboys (particularly on ArsTechnica) falling all over each other to push Apple's narrative that this is all the fault of those whose account was broken into. Good luck telling them that Apple is still susceptible to a brute force attack. Also, good luck convincing them that Apple's shoddy security practices as it relates to 2FA have been known for some time now:

Also of note in that story is that the ability to do a restore from iCloud's server backups that can include files the user actually deleted, coupled with at least one actress stating she deleted those nudes quite some time ago, suggests that Apple is approaching Facebook-type negligence in its failure to remove files that users delete.

Two questions arise out of this. First, how long until Apple fixes all of this now that it has become a major PR problem? Second, how much money is Apple going to pay to settle the inevitable lawsuits?

Hopefully other cloud backup services are taking serious looks at their own platforms as well.
