iOS 8 has already been announced though, so I wouldn't expect too much more from the software side. I suppose every version has 1 or 2 features that are specific to that years hardware, but I'd say we know 95% of what iOS 8 can do. If I had to guess I'd say the iPhone might be able to do some sort of health function that could be specific, so that'd be cool.
All in all, I'd say iOS 8 is the largest leap Apple has ever made. The ability for the apps to communicate is very Android-esque and is something that Apple users haven't been able to do up to this point. It's finally becoming a customizable, integrated system like Android.
