Saying he did nothing but largely score garbage goals and tip-ins is really selling him short:



The biggest thing that stuck out for me wasn't the number of tallies, it was his poise. He had a knack for knowing where to be and when.

Look at that play where he scored the game winner against New Jersey. The way he kept the puck in to keep the play alive and then snuck off behind coverage to find himself open was something you can't teach.

The way he froze Lack on that one goal and then shot was patience, not a garbage goal.

The list goes on. Yes, he has a lot of learning to do to round out his game but remember he was playing one of the worst teams in the league and missed considerable time to (and recovering from) injury.

Really odd there's a handful of you needing to downplay his season. It was a very impressive campaign for a teenage rookie stepping in to play centre. No need to degrade it from being labeled impressive.
