I think it's less of a NHL problem, and more of a technology problem.
I do believe we're getting to the point where any improvements will always be incremental. I would assume the different between NHL 14 on the PS3 and NHL 20 on the PS4 might be fairly intense. It's much the same as most games that have come out this year. They've all been incredibly comparable to late stage games in the last generation.
