I can understand wanting to support your team, especially a CFL team, but for almost $200. Come on! Why does it cost that much?
I will bet you an authentic jersey that I can easily tell you the differences between a knock off and an authentic. Without even seeing it I can already guess what the fight strap looks like.

Why should you buy an authentic for an inflated price? You absolutely don't have to, nor should you, if you can't justify paying $300. That said, you are in no way entitled to own one, and you never need an authentic jersey. If you can't/won't pay for an authentic jersey, then why does it make it okay to steal one? There are other options. You could buy a jersey t-shirt for $20. You can buy the officially licensed replica (Reebok Premier) jerseys. These are $135 at regular price. They go on sale, there are coupons, can be requested as Christmas gifts, etc., so you don't have to pay full price for them. There were some Flames jerseys about a month ago going for $28. I bought an authentic one a couple years ago for $100. I think I own four authentic jerseys, and a bunch of Premier/Edge jerseys, and not once did I pay full price, but I did buy them all from a licensed vendor.

If you like the style, look, trademark and patents so much, then pay for it. Buying a knockoff doesn't support the team, and for the most part, the jerseys look awful. It's easy to spot the fake jerseys in the Dome. The HC ones look bright pink and yellow, the home ones red is too dark, and most of the numbers are glossy and fading. I feel the same about knockoff LV/Burberry/Prada wallets and purses. The ones who buy it clearly are trying to fit in or act like they have the real deal. Nobody says they really just love the LV pattern, but wishes it was cheaper. LV is a status symbol. The people buying the fakes want people to think they have a higher status. For what they spent on the knockoff, they could have gotten a comparable purse from a brand that has gone through the correct channels, paid taxes, and is a better corporate citizen.

Just because you deem the price to be high, is no excuse to buy a knock off. You wouldn't like it if someone did that with your business.
