pleasantly surprised with the gameplay thus far.

Pros:
1) the NBC presentation layer looks really nice. the pre-game intro's also look great.

2) some players do feel heavier (ie. regehr) vs guys like gaborik/st.loius

3) puck feels a bit more realistic in how it interacts with skates/sticks

4) one-timers/cross crease don't always connect which is nice

Cons:
1) presentation seems quite limited compared to other EA games when it comes to realtime game stats of the team and the players. Maybe it's just a demo thing, but i was expecting more natural feeling statistics embedded onto the screen during the game play.

2) hopefully this is just a tuner thing, but the passing seems off in that you can basically complete just about any pass regardless of whether you're on your forehand/backhand, if there is severe puck pressure from the forechecker, etc. Not every player on the ice should be able to complete a crossice backhand pass between 2 defenders.

3) wrist shots in the slot are super-effective. that's definitely reflective of real hockey, but i wonder for a video game if they may want to turn this down a bit, and reward more creative hockey involving getting the goalie moving (ie. passing plays), making use of screens/tips, etc, more rather than skating your way into the slot and wristing it top-cheese over and over. i think an easy fix would be to just tone down shot accuracy altogether. A lot more wristers should go wide and over the net, and more often than not, wristers go right into the goalies jersey crest

All that said, unless you're a "eashl only" type nhl fan, which i am not (never played the mode), this is an easy must buy for hockey fans.

I wish they had HUT in the demo like past years, or the option to "restart game" after finishing the 6 min demo game

well done EA. only thing i would love to see now is be a gm, and see some actual improvement in prospect development. this season, like last, my nhl playing composed mostly of simming a year down the road, and really starting at next year's draft and building off the flames' prospect pool. that was a lot less fun last year when the prospect progression was pretty meh.

when the game comes out, would love to organize some vs games against folks on here. mind you, i refuse to play as any team other than the flames.
