The Spanish football federation has suspended the Atlético Madrid coach, Diego Simeone, for eight matches after he was sent off during the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
The federation announced its decision on Monday, three days after the Spanish champions beat Real Madrid 1-0 to win the Super Cup 2-1 on aggregate.
Simeone was suspended for four games for tapping the back of the linesman’s head, two games for protesting, one game for applauding his sending-off, and one game for remaining in the stands instead of leaving the stadium after his sending-off.

Jeez, they sure went to town on him. Two games for protesting?
And speaking of protesting Bilbao got jobbed big time by the ref against Malaga, first with a perfectly good header in the 94th minute by their
keeper disallowed right at the death and then to rub salt in it a few seconds later they have a pretty clear penalty appeal turned down.
The goal.
The penalty appeal. (1:20)
