In addition to what you have said, it is also important to remember that Baertschi (or any young player) still has lots of room to improve - as opposed to Galiardi or Jones who are finished products. In the AHL Sven can afford to make mistakes without having to worry about demotion or taking a hit in his self-confidence - unless he is exceptional at camp, it is definitely more beneficial that he stay in the AHL until he becomes dominant there.

It's easy to place Sven in the lineup right now and he could put up 30-40 points this season but we all know he can be better than that.
