Is Setoguchi going to block shots and play as hard as Bouma? Not likely. Just seems like not a great message to send. Hey you'll never have a chance to earn it because we always sign retreads that have at some point in their career "proven it".

How does this have anything to do with Bouma? Bouma and Setoguchi won't be playing for the same ice time.
It's not an either/or situation. Bouma will get signed, and he'll probably get signed for more money on a longer term than Setoguchi did.
