Agreed with Yen Man here. All too often I'd see an email chain where at the end responsibility is assigned to someone. A week later I haven't heard anything back from the person who was supposed to complete the work. Did it get done? Was it done and they didn't say anything? I'm left in the dark.

I know I hate being the babysitter, as I guess most people do too, so instead of waiting for that annoying "will you do this?" email, just finish off the chain by saying "okay, I will complete this task and let [x] know when I finish".
