Other information, like the distance between Michael Brown and the officer when the shots were made, will be very important.
But it's just disgusting what the media does for ratings and to sell newspapers. They've been perpetuating this story of a gentle giant shot in the back running from police based on absolutely no definitive facts. Now though that has been proven completely false. That's not to say that the officer was justified or wasn't trigger happy, but rather than wait for facts they make up their own narrative to paint the most controversial story for that little rating boost and of course a lot of people took it hook, line and sinker.
Now we'll have the goalposts moved, since he was no longer shot in the back (according to the first autopsy and contradictory to the eye-witness statements) they'll bring up how many times he was shot as though that's somehow the same. Now that it's proven he was a violent criminal we'll continue to hear how "so he stole some cigars and he deserves the death sentence?" while they avoid the fact that no, that's not what anyone is saying. Rather than wait for the rest of the actual facts.
The protests, riots and Ferguson police force's handling of the situation after the fact is another story altogether.
