Lego Movie - would watch it alone more than once and my kids love it.
Frozen - i would argue its the oppisite of formulaic, It entirely avoids the needing a prince cliche. Also if you missed the first half you missed the entire start of the plot and mot of the good music which is pretty important to the enjoyment of the movie
