A qualifying offer is just to retain a players rights, like the Flames giving Billins a QO despite already signing in Russia. Bancks did not accept the qualifying offer and then later agreed to an AHL only deal, likely at larger AHL dollars than his qualifying offer. |
Strange that he didn't accept it. Especially given the opportunities on the Flames and the fact he got a couple of games the season before. But as you say, the AHL deal must have came with a higher dollar amount.
