I also hope that DC tries to take more of the Jim Henson approach vs. the CGI motion capture. They have real characters and can use real actors.. so use real actors. I know Guardians is a massive hit but the thing that really took away from it for me is the over the top CGI. DC has a chance to be different on a few fronts here, don't be afraid to kill people and don't be afraid to explore costumes vs. computers.

What is interesting about the doomsday arc? It's just a big fistfight. If you want to really reach for what it's about, beyond a publicity stunt, it's another clumsy Jesus metaphor designed to pander to middle America.
The biggest internal conflict Superman has dealing with the fact that he can't save everyone. So to make a good Superman movie, you need to give him a real dilemma. You force him to make decisions about who lives and who dies, and then living with the knowledge that there are things that even he, with all his powers, cannot stop. You place him at his lowest point.
But then you build him back up, have him save the day in the end with an understated heroism about him. Then you have him fly into space, smile for the camera, and let us the audience know that this incorruptible symbol for good is still there for us. Cue the goddamn John Williams.
Nobody wants to make that movie though... I'd go see that every week it was in theatres utio it came out on Blu Ray. But I guess I'm just one of those people who likes Superman - it wouldn't do to make one for us.
