the concept of "getting a job" will become outdated. Eventually when machines perform every task imaginable, there will be no need for human labor. So a planet with tens of billions of people will need to figure out a new societal structure. It's really short sighted to assume that with an increase in technology there will always be need for the same amount of people. A machine that replaces 10 people and only 1 is required to maintain it. Having those 10 people learn how to repair it becomes redundant. The end goal of every society should be how to evolve and not have to work. How to get to the point where all your basic needs are provided and you will be able to spend %100 of your time perusing your own spiritual, intellectual and physical goals. We are getting to that point now where machines do so much and humans are no longer required for the "work". What should happen is those extra abundant resources get distributed to people to meet their needs. Yet the system is broken and rich people have much more than they require while poor people starve and die. Eventually machines will take over all labor, with a singularity person becoming a god, one person owning everything and everyone else around them dead. The current system makes no logical sense. You could have a system of machines that can provide for 20 billion people yet you end up with a handful of people owning all of that production which goes to waste because no human could possibly consume everything, while the rest of the 20 billion end up suffering or dying. Ultimately this system is completely flawed.
