Square-Enix just seems either to be wacky or just stupid sometimes. They had totally crazy expectations for the original Tomb Raider reboot and they called the game a flop when it didn't meet those expectations.
They even know that 70% of the sales of the Tomb Raider Definitive edition were from the PS4 versus the Xbone (close to 2.5:1 ratio). And that even before the PS4 had their large 2:1 console advantage, probably back around 1.5:1 maybe?

So I guess they'll take the wad of cash up front to
avoid actually selling the game to most of their previous customers and fan base. But they'll still be shocked that the game didn't sell to their lofty expectations.
It's interesting how Microsoft has completely lost the narrative again. It's not "hey, look we have this great timed exclusive and we're supporting this developer", it's a meltdown of the fanbase hurling crap at Crystal, SE and Microsoft.
Let's be honest though, they'll quickly put out the "Re-Rising" Tomb Raider edition on the more powerful platform(s) anyhow be it PC or PS4.
