This bolded term is such a horrible named term. Fiscally conservative seemingly implies being good fiscally, but it really isn't. Fiscal conservatism is an ideology of low taxes, bare bones government spending and little to no social welfare. But that doesn't necessarily equate to being good fiscally. The Liberals of 93-05 were
fiscally responsible, which is different and is more concerned with efficient use of resources and properly funding major capital projects (i.e. not through excessive debt spending).
