Some hotels in that area actually have shuttles that will take you downtown and drop you off. If yours has this, I would use it or public transportation. I had a friend who stayed in the same area before and he said by the time he was done paying for the rental and the parking, it would have been cheaper to cab it or use public transit. Not sure what time bus routes would stop going to your hotel. If you were out late, worse thing is you would have to cab it.
