With the 3 designations finally completing the merger the CPA program is now it (although I think the CA program runs until 2016 but you need a university degree for it so that's out), you have no other options to become a designated accountant in Canada. Education isn't particularly relevant to anything other than getting into the program. Once you get designated it won't matter what your education is, those 3 letters are all that matters
For programs I did the diploma (Business Admin program) and degree program (BADM) at SAIT and it was great, SAIT has good flexibility with night classes and even day classes (i.e some classes have 3-5 schedules so you can work till say 2:30 and then go to school). SAIT has an accelerated program that is recognized by the CPA that can be done online.
