EDIT: The Mission area is awesome, I used to live there....with all the flooding in the area you have to be super careful. But I loved living there, amazing part of town, expensive though.

Looks that way with Mission, pricey. I agree with you, getting a place in a community adjacent to the beltline is more affordable. Plus I won't be working downtown. Sunalta/Bridgeland/Hillhurst/Crescent Heights would be fine.
