I always wonder how "known" Calgary is in the States. I know it's not Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver levels of known, but I often hear people on CP say we're completely unknown dogwn there, like people have never even heard of us.
On Late Night with Seth Meyers the other night they had Allison Tolman from Fargo on and Seth just casually brought up that they were filming in Calgary, Not Calgary, Alberta, or Calgary in Canada, or Alberta, Canada, just Calgary.
Then they proceeded to have a conversation about filming in Calgary, the weather and everything Billy Bob Thornton did with the crew while filming here. But the whole time they just talked about Calgary like it was Vancouver and didn't need to be explained to the audience as they would already know that it was a Canadian city in western Canada.
Maybe they just figured no one would care enough for them to point out where we are or that we're a Canadian city, but the prideful Calgarian in me is thinking we're starting to grow up and slowly become a world class city that people in North America just know.
