If one uses the term 'slippery slope' it's because they know that they have lost an argument, and they must now rely solely on fear tactics. Watch a politically themed channel on tv, and take a shot every time somebody says this. It's the only way to take the edge off of the overwhelming irritation. It effectively stops reasonable dialogue.

"You can't pass this bill on the licensing of pets! It's a slippery slope to licensing trees, rocks, people and eventually cannibalism! Is that what you're after? Eating licensed people?"

24 hour news. It's a slippery slope to misuse of triscuit crackers by the elderly.
Just this weekend I was in a race and complained about a slippery slope. The trail was a hand cut line between two mountains with a lot of overgrown vegetation. It had rained the night before so the descent was muddy and I slipped and slid down a bit.
