He will be 22 by the start of the season. If he plays the full year in the AHL again he will be 23 by the start of the next season. He's not 19 anymore, you can't keep playing guys like Byron, Bollig/Westgarth, etc in front of him if you want to keep him motivated and thinking that he is a part of the plans and keep him wanting to be here.

I know I seem to be in the minority here but I think the Flames have somewhat mis-managed his development so far and another year or 2 in the AHL isn't going to help him at all. Not nearly as much as playing with the Flames, who happen to be rebuilding and should be playing the young guys over borderline veterans at this point anyway.

Watch the first 5 minutes of this video and tell that Sven isn't an NHL level offensive talent right now. If he's not getting played here, he should be trying to get a chance elsewhere.
