I think that these games are fine in the local markets. If it helps the NHL to sell 10,000 more tickets than they ordinarily would, I am fine with that. But I will give this the attention that I would give any other Mid-February game: that is to say, I will check the score before I go to bed and not care regardless.
If the goal is to sell local tickets, likely mission accomplished, if the goal is to get a big TV audience... meh...
