This was the fourth leg of the race. More often than not, the fourth leg is a non-elimination leg.
Like you said, every team hits some demographic, so no matter who came in last this week, you could have said, "this was a non-elimination leg because they didn't want to lose the _____________ viewers".
If you look at the ratings history of both the original version and last year's Canadian version, the week-to-week ratings hardly fluctuate at all.
Any significant drops in viewership almost always coincide with a holiday weekend or another significant event airing opposite the episode, and the numbers bounce back the following week to the regular levels. In Canada, the episode of the US version that airs on the same night as the Grey Cup tends to have the lowest ratings each year.
There appears to be absolutely no impact on the ratings based upon which team is eliminated in any given week.
