I seriously doubt you have watched him play much. Subban makes as many bad plays as he does good plays. Being selected to the Olympics doesn't means jack when you don't play much. Subban was a developmental pick, hoping he would learn something for the future. He played little and didn't contribute much, but that is irrelevant to his selection. This was a pick for the future. We'll see if he ever gets another invite. If he continues his current play that won't happen. High-risk/high-reward players don't go far in tournaments like the Olympics.
Some people here think of Gio as the second coming but guess what Gio didn't make the team PK did. If PK had gotten a chance to play no doubt in my mind he would've been a big contributor, maybe we would've scored a bit more?

He is not horrible defensively. I mean seriously this is a generic thinking amongst NHL fans if the guy is an offensive stud he must be bad defensively.

Here is Therrien on his defenseman, his coach who watches him everyday.

"He's still a threat offensively. He's still a threat on the power play. We give him different responsibilities defensively playing against good players around the League and he's shown a lot of leadership the way he's preparing himself and approaching the game. Definitely defensively he's been really, really, really good."
So go PK. Great deal for both sides.
