He's definitely in the top dozen dman in the league, but I'd likely take Weber, Keith, Chara, Doughty, Pietrangelo, Suter; and then possibly McDonagh, Ekman-Larsson, and Karlsson before him.
I even think Giordano had a better regular season than Subban, but PK did have some very good games in the playoffs (although the Lightning were an abysmal opposition in the first round).
Although this is a league where Phaneuf is making 7 mill and Niskanen is making 5.75, so I can see how Subban is worth 9. The Habs had to keep him really with the backlash the fanbase would have had if anything else happened, Bergevin was really forced into a corner on this one.
