My point in the last few posts is that you don't have to be a jerk to hit the guy beside you. Accidents happen. I don't feel there has to be a correlation between parking away from other people and assuming 100% of people are jerks.
We can go ahead and assume everyone on this planet is lovely, but even lovely people will accident hit your car so again, why not walk a few extra seconds and eliminate the possibility since I love my car? Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
