And he's right. As long as you stay within the designated lines, there's nothing wrong with parking in a vacant spot even if it happens to be next to another parked vehicle. People who think that parking near the edge of the lot entitles them to a private buffer zone are delusional.
You're reading way too much into it. Private zone? Entitled? No, people just don't want their stuff harmed, why is that so bad?

If someone went nuts and assaulted someone over this I'd understand why you're so upset. But this started as a simple gear grinder when it happened again to pylon.

Car guys, while I disagree with the fundamental idea of caring that much about material goods, are a fine bunch. That said, I think they're seen as in the "wrong" when they think everyone else is out to get them and is suddenly a disrespectful second class citizen for parking anywhere near them.

It's just a bit of silliness. Have your set of rules if you want, but don't be mad that nobody else cares about them.
To the bolded, I don't really see how it's any different than any other hobby.

Sure Acey seems a little over the top angry about it but he said his car's been damaged by a big door swing, I'd be angry too. I'm sure you would be as well. So now he tries to park far away to try his best avoid it in the future, and despite his attempts, there's still some guy that wants to park right next to him despite being surrounded by empty spots. Surely you can see how that'd be frustrating?

Say you're taking a piss in a public bathroom. There's 10+ urinals, all un-used, you go the furthest one and start doing your business. Someone comes in, walks past all the empty ones, and starts pissing right next to you. Surely you find that weird? That's how I think about it in the parking lot too. If there's LOTS of empty spots at the back of the lot, why in the world would you choose one right next to somebody else?

I simply don't understand the thought process. And I know to most people there is no thought process, they simply park wherever. Still find it annoying though.
