Just returned from a trip to Hoover Dam. For an engineer, seeing this enormous structure in the middle of the desert up close was one thing. But knowing that it was built in 1930's in only 4 years was simply unbelievable and mind boggling. 42 degrees of scorching heat was something else, of course. I used the widest lens I had in the bag (14-24), but it's still difficult to have a true perception of its size from the photographs. Trucks at the bottom are somewhat helpful. BTW, the power towers are built at a 45-degree angle to the rocks.
