Boston has more guys that are young and in the PRIME of their careers as well. Like a Vezina nominated goalie which is something Calgary can't boast.
Hayes will be free agent age long before those Boston guys will be out of their primes and can chose any team he wishes yet again. Assuming he has that long of a career....

Replace Boston, Calgary and Hayes with Anaheim, Edmonton and Schultz.
Schultz chose Edmonton because he saw two things:
1) a team that he had a good chance of making, getting ice time right away, and
2) a team that was going to grow going forward, in parallel with his own personal growth (as opposed to a team that currently had a stronger core)
I am suggesting that Hayes, if he chooses Calgary, would be making essentially the identical decision.
The fact that you, as an Oiler fan, disagree with the argument, is pretty funny.
