It could potentially make him a better all around player and be a lot more consistent, just look at Giordano. I wouldn't be surprised if hes named captain, he has the most nhl experience of anyone on the roster and he could use that and show what it takes to get to the nhl.

I disagree. Baertschi is still a boy among men. Which at 21 years old, is still completely understandable.
He's not mentally prepared to be a captain of a team. He has alot to learn at this level of the game as well as how to deal with the pressure of being a 1st round pick and having high expectations of you. I would also have concerns as he's shown before that he has difficulties with pressure being put on him (either by himself or others) and I think after the year he had this past season the last thing we want is to slap a C on him and tell him to carry the AHL team on his shoulders. We would destroy him at that point. I don't think he'd last half the season before having some sort of meltdown and potentially destroying his career.
Maybe later on in his career he pulls a Backlund and comes out of nowhere to be considered a leader and all that, but right now it's just not a feasible thing to do. The C belongs on a number of guys in that room before him.
