It's not so much that it doesnt get as cold as much as not for as long. We'll have a couple days of -15 to -30 which will be great, but then a week of close to zero temperatures melts all the rinks and they have to refreeze in the the next 1 or 2 days of cold weather and just don't have enough time before warm air hits again. The really good days for being on the ODR have definitely become more few and far between.

100% accurate. This year there were MAYBE 3 months of decent outdoor ice from mid-December to mid-Januray. It used to be November to March was ODR season but the last couple years I've definitely noticed a change. Such a shame, one of the things I love about winter, and IMO one of the quintessential Canadian experiences, is playing posts for a couple hours with your buddies and a few rink beers.
