I'm probably just as cheap (if not more), and I spend about $300-500 per year as well on maintenance for a 2008 Toyota Corolla. The most I've ever spent was $450 at the dealer, and I have a family friend to do some of the work when needed. I also follow the maintenance schedule and it's pretty reasonable. I'm also really cheap on tires as I never buy them here for inflated prices
