Incredible cost you guys endure. I must have been a lucky SOB all these years.
I used to drive new cars when I was young. Then I started to buy 2 year old cars with 20-30K on them and keep them for about 3 years.
In the last 14 years I have had 4 of these vehicles (me and my wife)
The total cost outside of oil changes:
2 tires(200) and front brakes (200) and a fuel pump (800) on Olds Alero. I kept that car for 10 years.
2 Tires on Windstar ($200) Kept 3 years.
Power Window motor on a Grand Cherokee ($150). Put it in myself. Drove that for 3 years.
Full Brakes and 4 tires on a Chevy Avalanche. (2500) Damn you 20 inch rims. 4 years and counting.
No tranny oil changes, antifreeze flushes and any other "recommended" stuff.
Really shocked at what you guys pay to maintain these cars. Hardly seems worth it to pay a premium for a nicer car.
My wife has a new import now so we will see what the cost is when the warranty goes.
