The US has a few more decades of superpower to go, once it falls though it will be quick, in a sense we are already there, the US relies on the rest of the world, specifically China, to pay for its role in the world.
The whole thing though is built on IOU's, which rely on confidence. Once the confidence falls it all falls apart quickly.
China can't simply call the IOUs because they would collapse their own economy doing so (assuming America doesn't pay). Besides China's number 1 customer isn't going to stop being the world's largest consumer economy any time soon. China probably isn't calling any IOUs or anything of the sort for 100 years, at least.

I'd also say America's financial issues are greatly overstated (see Greece, Spain, Portugal and others for true financial issues), take out Iraq and its related opportunity costs and America is one of the countries in the best financial shape in the world. Unless they chickenhawk themselves into another unneccessary war or two, America will be fine financially.
