With a surplus of skilled top-six winger prospects in the system, it actually makes a lot of sense to bring Glencross back. When he's healthy, he's still a legit front line NHL forward (when he decides to be), of which we have very few.
If he's going to get injured for 15-20 games a year, then we can recall one of our skill prospects and let them play with relatively minimal pressure - they're injury callups. If they succeed on their audition, then Glencross gets bumped down a line when he's back, and gets softer matchups.
There's no downside for us to bring him back. Treliving won't give him major term, and if he gets higher AAV so be it. If his injuries are a concern, there's LTIR and insurance to cover the costs. If he's healthy, we have a deeper team.
