I think Stastny was likely leaving anyways and isn't nearly as big a loss as many are making him out to be and I am not sure how that helped Calgary in any way.
Are we making the play-offs this year because of that? Are we adding players now that we couldn't have got prior to the offer sheet?
And that is only because the offer sheet was macthed and ignores how bad it would have been if the Avs let us get ROR and the Flames are now stuck with an overpriced 2nd line maybe center, no play-offs and no better off in the long term either.
That offer sheet seemed to have 0 benefits for the Flames and only downside if we would hvae got ROR or the NHL enforced its rules and we lost the picks and player.
