Ignoring the argument that Israel shouldn't have been founded under the Balfour declaration in the first place, which although I agree with, is irrelevant 60 years and 3 generations of born in the region Jewish Israelis on, if you attack a country, be it Israel or the US they will and should respond, that's their responsibility to their population, it's called a social contract.
